Idents ( Creating my own )
The title that me and my partner decided to use for are ident is Shocker Productions. We chose this name because we are doing a thriller name and it's something that is easy to remember and produce an ident for. I did some research on how to create titles and idents on youtube.
Here is a 3D title that has a fire effect, If i chose this as an ident it would give a big entrance to my film and that''s not what i'm looking for however, it's good to have experience and gain extra knowledge on how to produce something like this.
I like the way the ident is produced in this video, however it's not the atmosphere i want in for my opening thriller. I need something that represents my film. However i could consider this an option if i am unable to find a good way of presenting my ident.
After watching this video, this is something that i really want to do for my ident, by blending 2 videos to give another effect. It's very clever and a unique way to present your ident.
I did further research on using free videos to create my ident with, and i found a site called videezy.com. It's a website which is free for anyone to use, but mainly people interested in filming use. It provides free copyright films, which is shared internationally by anyone who films anything.
I found 2 possible videos to use in my ident.
I kept searching for different videos to use and found one that suits my title "Shocker Productions". This video is of a lightning storm in Sweden which someone filmed. It has the perfect atmosphere for my ident and is very likely going to be used.
Idents
In the Bugs Bunny movie the ident has manipulated the way they present their ident, so the audience can favor them. This version of the Warner Bros ident, is presented by bugs bunny, he jumps up and spins the banner across the logo to show it's " family entertainment". This shows that idents an be manipulated or changed to suit the film's opening atmosphere or as a chance to inhibit the films characteristics.
20th Century Fox does a similar thing for The Simpsons Movie. Ralph appears in the sequence by singing along to the traditional anthem of the 20th Century Fox Intro. This brings humor o the audience as they know that ralph is a comedic character in The Simpsons and this would be something that he'd do. The ident is presented in a very grand way with spotlights and 20th Century Fox in big gold writing.
Opening of Thrillers
The opening scene of this film Memento directed by Christopher Nolan, is a very unique way of capturing the audience. There is only one shot type, for 1 minute and 15 seconds, which is a close up of the man's hand and photo of a crime scene. The title appears, and to keep the audience locked in, the photo starts to fade, However it then becomes clear to us that this scene is done backwards. It reveals, the protagonists character as a murderer and a possible psycho as he takes pictures of his murders.
This is another film directed by Christopher Nolan. The opening scene shows us an establishing shot of top hats. Then narration starts, we get to see who is narrating by the next shot of an old man looking after birds. He then continues his narration of the a story that as the audience need to know to have the basic information and knowledge to understand the rest of the film. We also see the narration visually acted out, to make it even more clear and interesting to the audience.
Pulp Fiction is directed by a very famous and successful director called Quentin Tarantino. The opening scene is very interesting it's a conversation between two characters contemplating aloud about a what they want to do. This then leads to an argument, this reveals to the audience how the characters are in this film and what it might be about. It also has some humour when the dialogue develops, as they're talking about robberies the man says "nobody ever robs restaurants" ironically they're in a restaurant which they decide on the spot to rob.

Opening Film Analysis
From the opening scenes of the movie I learnt that they all have different styles of showing viewers what the movie might be about. For example sin city had a completely different style of filming , it had a black and white and red effect. 21 Jump Street had an opening scene of following a character to another setting. I learnt that it doesn't matter how you show the audience what the film is about just as long it grabs their attention. Sin City grabbed the audience because it has a mysterious opening the audience wants know more and why that woman got shot and who she is. 21 Jump Street grabbed the audience attention because it was ironic that there was Eminem music playing and guy that's trying to look like him, this is funny to the audience and makes them want to laugh and watch the film more.

Sin City Opening Scene
From the opening scene you can tell that the film is set in an older time period from the black and white mode with highlighted red effect, and that much of the setting looks unrealistic on purpose to make the film seem like a comic. We see a gun on the guy so that we associate him as a hitman. This opening scene doesn't give much detail about what the film is about from just the filming. However there is dialogue and narration that hint what the movie might be about and what genre it fits into.
The Other Guys Opening Scene
From the opening scene we can tell that this is an action movie as everything is fast paced and there's a car chase going on. However we can tell that it's also a comedy because the car chase isn't serious for the cops.
Inception Opening Scene
We can already tell the film s an action movie because someone is already stealing something precious as well as there's a hostage and there are guns involved. Moreover the way the scenery starts collapsing suggest that what we saw before wasn't real and that this is more than an action movie.
